Finally. My spit test results have arrived.
From first reading here’s what I’ve gleaned.
First. My estradiol is within the normal range. All my squawking about depleted estrogen and looky look. I’m casting blame where blame need not be cast.
Second. My progesterone is low. Low progesterone gives estrogen the upper hand. With E in the drivers seat, I can expect mood swings, fibrocystic breast changes and tenderness, water retention, and weight gain. Plus, since I’m peri-menopausal, I’m in line for hot flashes and night sweats.
To get out of line, it has been suggested that I consider supplementation with natural progesterone.
Funny. Even though I’m experiencing these symptoms, I feel so much better knowing that my symptoms fit with my confirmed hormone levels.
It’s interesting to notice how outside authority speaks louder than my own reality.

So hmm. Waiting to see what you will this knowledge.
- Add some progesterone, if so what, how and how much?
- Monitor any further?
- Have an estrogen sale?
- Other?

Hi Tina,
Estrogen Sale…now there’s an idea. But seriously folks, I think I’ll attend the symposium I posted about and take my results. See if I can get a variety of opinions on what to do next.
And I plan on posting further thoughts tomorrow.

Hi Sue, just found your blog. I know exactly what you mean about trusting the test more than your own experience. My saliva test just came back saying I’m plum out of estrogen. Undetectable. Which explains why my recent experiment with progesterone cream was a bust. So now I’m off to the pharmacy to pick up my estrogen patches! Wish me luck!
