If I may, and in the spirit of ‘one saying does not speak for everyone’ I would like to add a few other options to the piece of advice ‘Live and Learn’.
Live and Unlearn
- for those of us who were taught stuff about being a woman that is demeaning, untrue, mean spirited, useless, unhealthy or just plain out of date.
Live Large and Learn Large
- perhaps an entire life manifesto or a new ideology to be adopted at the drop of a hat.
Live and Potentially Learn
- who among us has not faced the same old, same old more than once and wondered why? Patterns repeat themselves. Sometimes this is fine. But, if your routine clashes with your happiness, consider ramping up the level of learning and notice when you start to slide toward a rerun experience.
Live Little and Learn Lots
- Little is where the detail lives. And we all know beauty is in the detail.
Alive and Learning
- In my world, learning is an ongoing course.
I’ve noticed a resurgence of learning and new vigor around me. Perhaps it’s partly a condition of out luscious spring. But I can’t help but think there are other reasons stimulating the buzz.
As my peers arrive one by one on the Good Ship Menopause, we are faced with figuring out our new body pattern and energetic flow. Or not. Some menopausal women refuse to accept their new life stage. It’s as though by stamping their feet and saying No they will shift the course of their own natural biology. I’ve never seen this method work and in fact wonder if it doesn’t make the whole aging thing harder to bear. But that’s just my take.
The women in my immediate world are reading, talking, noticing, walking and laughing…my, my, my how we laugh. Since menopause is not a competition or a disease to be cured, it will be interesting to see how the whole experience plays out for us.
Guess menopause, no matter how you face it, would be a ‘live and learn thing’.
