At the Let’s Talk About Hormones lecture I attended this week I learned that pre-menopausal breast cancer is on the rise. The speaker felt certain that our increased estrogen load is a suspicious culprit.
Coincidentally, I’m heading to a breast cancer conference in Montreal this weekend. Reasons For Hope is a scientific conference that offers the latest research news in the field of breast cancer.
I am not a breast cancer survivor. Rather, I produce, publish and push a breast cancer prevention calendar called Breast of Canada. I am entering my 6th year of publishing the fine art photography, guaranteed to inspire much conversation, wall calendar.
The conference provides me an opportunity to connect with the breast cancer community, see what’s happening in terms of research and learn more for the purpose of dissemination on my blogs (here and here) and in the calendar. With luck, the pre-menopausal breast cancer issue will be reviewed and I’ll be able to provide you with a informed report.
Breast cancer conferences can be highly emotionally charged events. Bilingual Montreal, one of Canada’s most cosmopolitan cities is a favorite destination of mine. The juxtaposition of the two with my own sprinkle of menopausal mind, body and spirit will make for a stimulating three days.
Not to mention the fact that my French is uselessly pathetic.
C’est dommage.
