I’ve been up to my ying yang with media release mania. The 6th Annual Breast of Canada Calendar that I publish needs a push at this time of year….what with breast season about to open and all. I’ve been knocking on every media/blogher door I can hoping some will answer and heed the call.
I volunteer my time and talent on this project. My original hope was to make myself meaningful paid work. But after six years, the paid part has failed to kick in. Each year I reduce my print run a bit more. And each year hundreds of people tell me deeply personal stories of how the calendar transformed their lives. It’s a strange form of math that doesn’t add up. People consume copious amounts of vile stuff every day. They spend hundreds, thousands and sometimes millions of dollars on things that exploit the earth, the poor and their own souls. But show them a fine art photograph of a woman joyously hoola hooping topfree and you’d think I was waving around a “nipple of mass destruction”.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For my own purposes, I’ve renamed it Breast Health Awareness Month. I don’t have breast cancer. I’m one of the 8 out of nine that you don’t hear much about.
I’ve learned that society has a big hang up over breasts…breast feeding, brafreedom, topfreedom, pretty much any breast related topic except breast cancer. Since I’ve been pushing the marginal cause of “breast health”, I’ve learned that most people believe that breasts have only one purpose…..sexual stimulation. And until breast cancer strikes, we can’t talk about any other possibility.
But I do go on.
If you would like to read or hear my media release then the links will give you that option. If you can add my banner to your website or blog for the season, then go here. If you simply want to give your own breasts some positive regard, please do. They are yours to love.

I put a banner on my sidebar. I love what you’re doing.
I’m sorry it isn’t panning out financially. Such a shame. Are there grants you can apply for?

Hi Feith,
Thank you for your generosity. I have yet to find a grant to apply for that fits the ‘artististic project with an educational, health twist using nudity’.

It looks like a beautiful calendar, too!
